Landslide destroys two acres of paddy field

Senapati, July 19 2017:
The incessant downpour in the past days has led to many landslides at different parts of the State.
The landslides which occurred in Senapati district have not only affected the local roads and highways but have also damaged the paddy fields at Taivae which is located 1 1/2 km away from Ngamju village, Senapati district.
It was reported that, nearly two acres of the paddy field have been covered by the mud .
The most damaged field belongs to one T Zachariah s/o Tiine who has five children.
The condition of the paddy fields worsened when a big water spring started to flow inside the fields along with mud in tons.
All the newly planted crops were covered with mud, he asserted.
The farmers of the area expressed urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and added that if the flood occurred one more time, the nearby fields will be damaged ruining the livelihood of the farmers.
