Boy saved from drowning
A six-year old boy was saved from drowning
by the locals at Moirangthem Leikai, Moirang
today.
Moirangthem Dhanaraj (6), s/o M
Manihar Singh was playing with his 3-year
old cousin M Sushanjit when he fell into a
water tank which is under construction.
3-year old Sushanjit reported the incident
to Dhanaraj's mother afterwhich she along
with the locals rushed at the site and saved
Dhanaraj.
Slow loris rescued
One slow loris was rescued by one Wahengbam
Nawang Singh of Kwakta Ward No 8 last night
outside his house.
The rescued animal has been handed over
to People For Animals, Saiton Branch
through Kwakta Ward No 8 Councillor Md
Abo Singh today.
Medical camp
A one day free medical camp was organised by
2nd Battalion, J&K Light Infantry under the
aegis of Loktak Brigade & Red Shield Division
at PY College, Sengpangjar, Ningthiching.
Around 800 people were examined by a
medical team of Bishnupur district hospital
and 2nd JAK.
Fingerlings liberated
Around 2 lakh of fingerlings were released by
Fishery Department under the project "Aug-
mentation of fish production of Loktak Lake
with stocking of fish fingerlings" at Loktak
Lake today.
The project is sponsored by the National
Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad.
Lawachun festival
Lawachun, festival of plantation of cotton, was
celebrated by the villagers of Khunbi Tuinem
today.
With the celebration of Lawachun festi-
val, womenfolk have started following
certain traditional practices which are neces-
sary before the planting of cotton plants.
The festival was marked by offertory
prayer by village khunbu/khullakpa for the
villager' health and prosperity.
