Local jawan laid to rest with military honor

Senapati, November 18 2015:
A day after an Assam Regiment jawan from Maopungdong village, Senapati district was killed in a tragic Tata Sumo accident near Tadubi along NH-2, the 35 Assam Rifles led by its Commandant Colonel Sandeep Pandey and officers paid a military honor on behalf of Eastern Army Commander before it was laid to rest in the presence of villagers, ex-servicemen, public leaders and family members, our correspondent reports.
In his condolence message, the Commandant said the traditions of Indian Army ensures that a soldier's last journey is an occasion of pride.
Sepoy Kevi H Zhimo (Chakheo), resident of Maopungdong village was a serving Jawan of 15 Assam Regiment posted at Jammu and Kashmir.
