Assam Rifles seizes heroin worth Rs 2.24 crore at Maram

Senapati, June 30 2021:
Maram Battalion under the aegis of Jwalamukhi sector/IGAR (E) today seized Heroin worth Rs 2.24 Crore in Maram, Senapati on NH-2.This is the third successful operation by the Maram AR within a week.
According to the Assam Rifles, information regarding the smuggling of contraband items along the National highway was received from a reliable source.
A quick reaction team was immediately launched on NH-2 where jawans created a check post on the outskirts of Maram town and checked all the suspected vehicles.
At around 4am, a suspicious vehicle Dumper Truck with registration number NL-07A-9299 was stopped and searched thoroughly.
Upon which, 56 packets of Heroin weighing about 560 gram hidden in soap cases and wrapped inside a plastic tarpaulin were found.
Two individuals identified as Latif Ali and Aaku were
also arrested.
