Phase II of the 'Free From Hepatitis-C' was launched today at Manipur Press Club under the aegis of the Community Network for Empowerment (CONE).
The project launching function was attended by Public Health Deputy Director Dr L Somorendro, JNIMS Gastroenterologist Dr N Suraj Kumar, Shija Hospital Consultant Gastroenterologist Dr Longjam Goldie and Babina Diagnostics Managing Director Dr Th Dhabali as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, CONE president RK Nalinikanta said that around 100 million people are infected by Hepatitis every year across the world and seven million of them die.
It is crucial to create mass awareness about the preventive measures of Hepatitis.
Free From Hepatitis-C project was launched to make underprivileged people particularly widows and people living with HIV/AIDS aware about Hepatitis, Nalinikanta said.
