COTA seeks PM's intervention

Demanding the state government to implement the 6th Central Revised Pay in toto to the teachers, COTA today petitioned the Prime Minister of India for his intervention to solve the impasse and bring normalcy in the interest of the teachers and students.
In the petition, COTA mentioned that the state government had signed a MoU with COTA and JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO on May 19, 2010 for implementation of 6th Central Pay in toto.
However the state government is not translating the MoU into action till date.
Moreover the government has arrested more than 100 teachers in connection with the indefinite hunger strike launched by COTA in demand of the implementation of the 6th Central Pay in toto, it added.
In a press release, COTA expressed gratitude to the teachers from hill districts who came to the site of the hunger strike to encourage the teachers.
It stated that the teachers who are in jail will also launch an indefinite hunger strike inside the jail too if the government failed to fulfill COTA's demand by February 5.
