Imphal, August 14, 2012:
In protest against the persistent threat to press fraternity in Manipur, Manipur Hill Journalists Union has decided to carry in bold letters the following words of appeal in no less than 2 inch on the entire front page of every newspaper under the union.
"Even as we celebrate the country's 65th Years of Independence Day, the fourth estates - Press/Media still lives under threat, denying them the spirit of freedom.
It is our humble appeal to the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to ensure the much desired spirit of Independence this day forward." - Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU).
The MHJU's decision has come in the wake of recent bomb attack at the house of AMWJU president A Mobi.
