Snake bite victims saved

Imphal, June 09 2016:
A medical team of Assam Rifles saved two
snake bite victims at Moltuk in Chandel district.
4 Assam Regiment of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the
aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) has placed its Regimental Medical
Officer (RMO) at one of the remotest post along international
border at Phaisanjang.
Being the only qualified doctor in the
entire Khengjoi sub-division he regularly provides medical aid
to local populace, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs
IGAR (S) .
In a matter of one week, two critical cases of snake bite
were successfully treated thereby saving the precious lives.
In the first case, a 32 years old male namely Saithuanga
from Khampat, Myanmar was brought in semi-conscious state
to the Assam Rifles Post.
In the second case, Jankhaulum (42)
of Kovang village near Old Samtal was brought after eight
hours of snake bite in an unconscious state.
Both the patients were immediately attended by the Medical
Officer and administered with anti-venom and other lifesaving
drugs.
Consequently, both the individuals have completely
recovered.
Based on the request of the local populace, a small capsule
on the first aid against snake bites is being planned for them
in the said post, added the press release.
