Based on specific intelligence regarding ferrying of illegal wildlife products on NH�102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended two individuals along with illegal wildlife products at Khudengthabi on Feb 22 .
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), the suspected vehicle, bearing registration number MN-02A 8527 coming from Moreh was stopped for checking, and a thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of one Tokay Gecko (39 cm length, approx 15.35 inch), two driving licenses, two voter identity cards, two mobile phones and Rs 46,480 in cash.
The apprehendees have been identified as P Lamthang (58) s/o (L) Khamjathang of Zoveng village, CCpur district and driver of the vehicle P Thang Chinhau (34) s/o P Lamthang of Vengnuam village, CCpur district.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Forest and Wildlife Department and Imphal PS, it added.
