UNMM urges

United NGOs Mission Manipur (UNMM) has urged both the Central and State Governments to take up necessary steps to check the increasing cases of human rights abuse and wanton violence in the State .
Speaking to media persons at Khuman Lampak youth hostel today, UNMM secretary U Nobokishore Singh urged the authority concerned to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which also includes a number of human rights organisations for investigation of human rights related crimes in the State .
Urging the authority concerned to recruit capable experts in human rights institutions, Court and police for timely and effective intervention in human rights violation cases under AFSPA, he appealed to the authorities to punish violators and also appealed to both the Central and State Governments to repeal AFSPA from the State at the earliest.
