UTPO extends support to ATSLA's 48 hrs bandh

The United Tribal Peoples' Organisation (UTPO), Tengnoupal District has extended its moral support to 48 hrs bandh called by All Tribal Sandstone Labour Association (ATSLA), Moreh from October 6, said a press release issued by Gen Secy UTPO, Tengnoupal district.
It said that it is not the duty of the Manipur Govt to ban sandstone mining and its transportation in and around Tengnoupal district including the National highway.
Banning of sandstone mining and its transportation hugely affects the livelihood of many small businessmen as it decreases the their income, particularly, the poor and unemployed people, it maintained and added that Govt Depts, organisations, people or any one for that matter, should not disturb/ban the movement of vehicles which carries stone, timber or sand on the National highway.
