Imphal, July 28 2016:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) has expressed
serious concern over reaching an agreement between India and
Myanmar on border issues without consulting the State Government.
In a statement, MPP said that Myanmar has been constantly encroaching on the land of Manipur.
When Manipur merged with the Indian union, Manipur's
total area was 22,356 sq km.
However, this area has been reduced to 22,327 sq km now,
the regional political party said.
People may erupt in a huge protest if boundary issues with
Myanmar are resolved by the Centre without consulting the
State, MPP observed.
The Surveyor General of India must discuss the issue with
the civil society organisations of the State and DCs of Ukhrul, Churachandpur and Chandel districts.
