The Janata Dal United(JDU) today urged all the 60 MLAs of the State to take a decision for the removal of the Disturbed Area Status in the State during the forthcoming winter session.
Speaking to mediapersons, Janata Dal United Manipur Unit president M Tombi stressed the need of removing AFSPA from the State which has claimed many innocent lives.
He also condemned the Government for charging rights activist Irom Sharmila, who has been on a fast demaning the repeal of AFSPA, of attempting to commit suicide.
On Inner Line Permit System, M Tombi said that the Committee formed by all the political parties of the State is making its best effort to impose the ILPS at the earliest and a proposal regarding the matter would be submitted to the State Government soon.
Moreover, JD (U) and Aam Admi Party have also submitted a regulation to the State Deputy Chief Minister.
M Tombi also appealed to the Committee of Higher Secondary Students Union of JCILPS to co-operate and not resort to any agitation.
Speaking on the upcoming Sangai Festival, M Tombi urged the State Government to provide better power facilities to prevent crime and for the convenience of the commuters.
