Imphal, February 15 2015:
Local people, club volunteers and women activists today demolished a newly constructed building of Patsoi Tulihal New Government Primary School on the ground that the building was constructed in the most casual manner without giving any attention to the qualitative aspect.
The new building having two class rooms was built under SSA but it was demolished by the local people at around 3 pm today.
|
The way the building was constructed posed serious risks to students as it is highly vulnerable to storms and earthquakes alike.
The GI sheets used for covering the roof are of very low quality and there are just two pillars over a span of 20 feet.
Moreover all the construction materials are of very low qualities, said one woman activist of the locality.
She also appealed to Education Minister M Okendro, local MLA AK Mirabai and other authorities concerned to make a spot assessment of the unfinished school building.
