Imphal, December 12 2013:
The United Revolutionary Front (URF) Manipur has conveyed gratitude to all the peasants who extended unstinted support to the outfit's Go Green Project.
A press release issued by the outfit's publicity and information assistant secretary Poinu Luwang said that the outfit has been working to co-exist with the local people of Loitang Khunou (near Spinning Mill) since June 2012.If the Go Green Project proves successful, people would be self reliant as far as food grain is concerned and this would pave way for development of the society as a whole.
The URF came to the path of peace on certain understanding with the Government leaving behind the demand for separation of Manipur from India.
One of the foremost understanding was extension of all possible assistance to all projects taken up by the outfit in the interest of people.
But so far, neither the State Government nor the Government of India has come forward with any kind of assistance.
Even though leaders of groups under SoO pact have been issued gun licences and allowed to possess arms, no such permission has been given to URF leaders, it decried.
Moreover, criminal cases registered against leaders of many UG groups now engaged in tripartite talks have been cancelled but URF leaders Lanheiba Meitei is still compelled to present himself at the NIA Court, Guwahati twice a month.
It further urged the Government of India and all other concerned authorities to look into such discriminatory policies.
