Imphal, September 12 2015 :
One month after one of the worst floods occurred in Manipur, many affected families continue to live either at relief camps or at temporary shelters as their houses are badly damaged.
Many families are likely to live in such harsh living conditions for months.
In addition to food, other essential commodities such as mosquito nets, candles, and medical supplies, acute shortage of drinking and potable water are another major concern for these families.
Under a goodwill project of Dynamic Manipur (DM) and Helping Hands Manipur (H2M) for the restoration of community ponds at several flood affected villages, water filtration units were distributed in an attempt to supply potable water to flood victims.
On September 10 and 12, the team distributed 50 water filtration units to the families of Kakching Chumnang, Wangoo, Serou, Sugnu and Tentha, who are currently taking shelter at relief camps and temporary sheds.
