Kiwi fruit festival held

In connection with the New Year celebration, a Kiwi fruit festival was held at Nagamapal's Lai Eshingchaibi temple here on Saturday.
The main objective of the festival was to promote Kiwi fruit in Manipur.
According to Pritam Samuyaima, who is the service provider of the fruit in the state, most of the people in Manipur know about the benefit of the fruit, which is abundantly available in Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
However, in Manipur, Kiwi fruit is available only in Hengbung, Senapati district.
The market rate of the fruit in Guwahati and Arunachal Pradesh is around Rs 250 and Rs 200 respectively while it is available at Rs 170- 200 in Himachal Pradesh.
