Imphal, February 03, 2011:
Following a resolution taken during a meeting held on July 6, 2010 between ATDUM and state government, the All tribal Disabled Union Manipur (ATDUM) had appealed to the State Health Commissioner to decentralize powers to the medical authorities to assess disabled persons in all the district hospitals, CHCs and PHCs.
In a press release, ATDUM stated that disabled persons in remote areas have to spend three to four days at Imphal incurring heavy expenditure to wait for assessment of their disability by the medical board at JN Hospital, Porompat.
Taking note of the various inconveniences, ATDUM had appealed to the government to take up certain actions to address the inconveniences.
It has warned that it will be forced to launch various types of agitations if the government failed to fulfill its demands.
