Senapati, March 27 2015 :
Theiva/Thiwa headman along with his council members and local people have strongly refuted the content of the news article published in The Herald Today and The Sangai Express on March 20 and 24 respectively, concerning the debate over original settlers of the village.
A statement issued by Thiwa village headman HL Ruichumhao stated that Theiva/Thiwa village, a part of the 45 Tangkhul villages under Senapati district, is not solely inhabited by Poumai tribes.
The headman negated the statement made by K Mangan claiming himself as chairman of the village.
He was, Ruichumhao added, a member of the village authority for over a decade.
It further asserted that HL Ruichumhao, and not K Mangan, is the true headman of the Thiwa village recognised by the locals as per the Naga customs.
