Imphal, February 20 2016 :
An unattended tiffin box created panic at MG Avenue, just a few metres away from City police station, for some hours today morning.
Police and passers-by detected the suspicious tiffin box near a shop at around 9 am.
As the owner of the tiffin left it there unattended for some hours, police suspected it as a bomb.
As such, the area was immediately cordoned off and all the shops were asked to close for some time after the arrival of additional police and CRPF personnel.

Vehicles coming towards MG Avenue were diverted to other routes.
A bomb expert went near the suspicious tiffin in full bomb disposal suit and covered it with a protective bin to detonate it.
However, as the tiffin did not explode, the bomb expert opened it at around 9.20 am only to ascertain that it was not a bomb but a tiffin box containing rice and 'iromba' .
Later, normal traffic was resumed and shops opened.
