Assam Rifles Recovers AK -56 Assault Rifle In Changlang

Imphal, September 12 2019:
Based on a specific intelligence input of presence of NSCN(R) cadres in the area of Khuchep, Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, a major search operation was launched by troops of Assam Rifles in the area on 09 Sept 2019 .
During the course of the search an AK 56 automatic assault rifle was recovered along with 15 rounds and one magazine from the banks of the Tirap river.
It was later found that one of the insurgent had lost his weapon while he was trying to cross the river to avoid the security forces.
This operation was part of intense drive that has been launched against the proscribed groups in Tirap area of South Arunachal Pradesh.
The recovery is seen as a major success against the groups which are feeling the crunch of resources and weapons.
The recovered weapon has been handed over to the Changlang Police for further investigation and forensic analysis.
