Thai team to explore investment opportunities in State

A six-member team of the Thailand Board of Investment and the Fiscal Policy Research Institute held a threadbare discussion with SALAI Holdings Private Limited on various aspects of investment opportunities, including agro based industries and tourism industries.
The team arrived in Imphal yesterday to explore investment opportunities in various sectors in the State, particularly agro processing and tourism industries as part of the field study in the North East region for promotion of Thai Overseas Management on emerging markets under the aegis of Ministry of Finance, Thailand.
Briefing media persons after the discussion, Executive Director of Thailand Board of Investment, Bussarakam Sriratam conveyed that the six-member team consists of three members each from Thailand Board of Investment and the Fiscal Policy Research Institute.
She stated that their purpose of the visit was to explore investment opportunities in both the public and private sectors in the State and the North East as a whole.
She divulged that the team is looking for appropriate companies or industries of both Government and private sectors in the North East region, including Manipur, where money can be invested in the field of agro processing and tourism industry.
Asserting that she likes to know how the Government promotes foreign investment in the State apart from the private companies, Bussarakam Sriratam informed that she is delighted to learn that the Government and the private company SALAI Holdings Private Limited are actively engaging in promotion of organic farming, tourism and agro based industries.
She further stated that she went to markets in the State to ascertain how the markets run.
Maintaining that she came to know about the SALAI Holdings Private Limited and its various units from internet, she stated that she gained broader knowledge and insights about agro processing industry, particularly the production/extraction of mustard oil, organic farming and mushroom cultivation.
It is very interesting to learn that SALAI is dealing directly with the farmers without middlemen as it will be more beneficial both for the company and the farmers themselves, she added.
She mentioned that the team will be visiting the State again for further perspectives.
Vice-Chairman of Salai Holdings Private Limited, Elangbam Brojendro expressed happiness on holding discussion with the Thailand team, saying that the company has started garnering recognition from foreign companies.
He added that it was a great moment not only for the company but for the State and the country as well.
