Truck set ablaze

A truck has been burned down by people of Awang Sekmai, Nongthonband, Imphal West District this morning for violating a resolution adopted by people of the area.
It has been reported that a resolution to restrict and ban extraction of sands and stones from Sekmai river bed was adopted at a meeting held in June last year.
The truck (MN-03T/1093) was stopped and burned down by the villagers after it was seen plying on the river bank to collect sands and stones.
Later, a public meeting held at Sekmai Koujengleima ground reaffirmed to stick to the same resolution.
SDC, Sekmai also participated in the meeting and did a spot inquiry on the incident and affirmed that a survey pertaining to the problem of increasing number of houses along the river bank is under way, a report stated.
