Senapati, July 25 2012:
The joint meeting convened by Naga People's Organization (NPO) and all 3 sub-divisional block Chairman/Leaders unanimously resolved to implement 100% of MGNREGS funds in their respective Villages.
The meeting also instituted a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to collectively and effectively implement the said decision in all the 3 sub-divisions of Mao-Maram, Paomata and Purul block.
Significantly, the joint meeting held yesterday at NPO conference hall, in the presence of Tribe Hohos, has also directed all the Tribes and their Villages to again initiate Census counts for a realistic record.
Most importantly, the JAC which comprises block Chairman/leaders has also decided to set a deadline of 10 days time to complete all pending NREGS funds for 2012-13 in respect of all the 3 sub-divisions, for which it has asked the District and block administrations to immediately release all pending funds.
Expressing concern over stand-off between some block villages and ADC members over some Naga revolutionary groups' interference into the MGNREGS funds, the joint meeting also called upon all concerned to allow the funds to be provided without any obstacles.
Recently, the Paomata Block village leaders threatened to boycott or launch non-cooperation against the block ADC members if attempts were made to divert 25% of the funds to the ADC.
Intrestingly, the MLAs have supported the move of the village leaders and appealed for 100% transactions of funds directly to the Village account.
