The Chandel Naga Civil Societies Coordination Core Committee (CNCSCCC) held a meeting with members of Chandel Naga civil societies, Naga Chiefs' Association and Maring Uparup Assembly today morning at Chandel to discuss the situation in Machi area where violent incident flared up between two villages on June 20 .
The Chandel Naga Civil Societies' leaders assured the Maring Uparup Assembly leaders that they will work with them to resolve the issues concerning the Naga families, according to a statement .
Saying the unfortunate incident of June 20 was 'uncalled for,' the civil societies urged both the warring villages to forgive and forget what had happened for the sake of peace in the region .
Pointing out that land disputes among tribal people are common occurrences, the statement said that all misunderstandings can be settled through talks and negotiation.
"As Christians, we should avoid violence, hatred and war," it added .
In support of Maring frontal organisations, the Chandel Naga Civil Societies, tribes' leaders and NCA also decided to mobilise the public for rehabilitation and relief assistance to the victims of the unfortunate incident.
They also decided to ask the district administration, Chandel to provide essential items to the affected villages.
