Imphal, November 20 2014:
Claiming hands in the attack on AR personnel on Nov 18 at a location between Nungba and Kambiron, the underground Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) today pledged to continue such offensives unless the security forces stop hunting down and harassing cadres of the outfit.
A press statement issued by A Dangmei, information and publicity secretary of ZUF said that the outfit is against the alleged evil design of the AR which allegedly used some deserters of the outfit namely Ningtingthan, Ngamthang, Kiuliangbou and Jeanchuilung as informers to track down the cadres everywhere.
"We are compelled to demonstrate our capability to strike back as a warning shot," the ZUF statement claimed.
The ZUF sent some expert bombers who attacked the 13 AR between Nungba and Kambiron, 5 kms west of Nungba, on Nov 18 which claimed five army Jawans and caused serious injury to 14 others, the statement claimed.
"We regret to kill anybody but we are forced by circumstances," it said.
The AR used many of the outfit's deserters /discharged persons to hunt down and harass them.
Many were killed, injured and the stations of the cadres have been targeted which cannot be tolerated anymore, it said.
"We are neither against the Government nor any other UG factions as we are running our own establishment under the Constitutional provisions of India to bring about unification of fragmented Zeliangrong areas under a single roof," it asserted.
The outfit also clarified that its cadres had no encounter with NSCN-IM in recent times contrary to media reports.
It further clarified that the outfit was not involved in any joint venture to launch attack on the army on Nov 18 or on any other occasions in recent time.
It also warned that the army would face more serious consequences if such alleged mischief and act of harassment against the outfit is continued.
The SFs should immediately stop the trend of of hunting down the cadres otherwise the expert team so dispatched would strike anytime anywhere, A Dangmei cautioned.
