Private Schools Observation Day held

The 7th Private School Day Observation was held at Hotel Imphal with former Manipur University Vice Chancellor Dr IS Khaidem, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association president Memcha Chanu and Council of Higher secondary Education, Secretary Dr H nabachandra Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Presenting the key-note address, association secretary N Shantakumar contended that Government schools are unable to flourish due to controversial transfer policy of the teachers.
Contrary to the Government schools failing to attract significant number of students, reputation of private educational institutions continue to grow owing to the latter's focus on development of human resource through a number of dedicated and hard-working teachers.
Welcoming reported comment by the Education Minister that facilities available under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme would be extended to all educational institutions irrespective of the school being a Government one or run by private parties, he also noted that limited scope of Government jobs in Manipur is a blessing in disguise for the private schools to produce quality students.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr IS Khaidem expressed satisfaction that chaotic education scenario in the past few years has stabilised to a great extent at present.
He pointed out that manipuri candidates performing excellently in various competitions and examinations is an indication of marked improvement in the education sector.
Acknowledging contribution of private school teachers in producing a number of meritorious students during the last many years, the former VC exhorted them to sustain their dedicated service to the future pillars of Manipur.
Delivering the presidential address, Memcha Chanu asserted that the Association was formed with the stated objective of facilitating the private schools function in a smooth and efficient manner.
Asking the State authorities to ensure timely availability of text-books, she affirmed that private schools will continue to contribute its mite in the development of human resources.
As a part of the observance, position holders in the class X and XII examination were honoured with presentation of gifts.
Floral tributes were also paid to departed members of the Association.
