Water and sanitation awareness week

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Manipur under the aegis National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) and Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin (SBM-G) launched a National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Week today at District Water and Sanitation Committee (DWSC), Kangpokpi PHE Division, Phed Manipur headquarters.
A mass rally arranged by the Phed, Manipur from Kangpokpi PHE Division head office to Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi, marked the beginning of the awareness week.
The mass rally, which was flagged off by Kangpokpi PHE Division EE Ningombam Gambhir Singh, was participated by officials of PHED including RK Deben Singh, Ksh Shushilkumar, and T Thangpao and members of social organisations.
During his speech at the launching session, Ningombam Gambhir Singh highlighted the importance of preserving water.
The sanitation week would host awareness programmes on Inter Personal Communication (IPC), community participation on safe sanitation, safe drinking water and district level essay competition on the theme 'conservation of water for future' .
The week long awareness programme would also host street plays at Kangpokpi, Saitu and Saikul sub-division as a part of the programme.
A prize distribution ceremony will mark the end of the National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Week launched at the Phed, Manipur headquarters today.
