Upper Hundung JAC threatens stir

The Upper Hundung JAC against discrepancies in the distribution of PMGKAY rice has threatened to launch public agitation in case their demands are not fulfilled on or before October 19 .
Convener of Upper Hundung JAC, TS Alvis while briefing the Ukhrul pressmen at the office of Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) in Viewland, expressed their strong discontentment against the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul for failure to address the agreed charter of demands in time.
According to him, a joint meeting was held on September 14 the office chamber of the DC and the matter was discussed in the presence of SDO, DSO, Assistant Commissioner, Hungpung VAs including the local MLA and assured to redress the issue within one week, however nothing has been done yet and is an act betraying the residents of Upper Hundung.
The convener also mentioned that during the joint meeting, Alfred Arthur Kanngam ensured them to provide additional rice for the residents of Dungrei, Awungtang and Vashimtang and also to compensate the missing 157 quintals of rice on humanitarian ground.
According to convener Alvis, the residents of upper Hundung village have already recieved 200 bags of rice from the Local MLA while the remaining 114 bags of food grains is yet to be recieved.
The JAC has demanded the DC, Ukhrul to conduct an adminstrative probe against those persons involved in the PMGKAY rice misappropriation during lockdown period since April.
Meanwhile the spokesperson of JAC, CM Kennedy reiterate their stance and demanded replacement of unconsumable pulses and refund of transportation fares deducted from the residents of Vashimtang.
The JAC demanded for immediate execution of their assurance and failure to response on or before the set deathline, ie October 19, a total bandh/shutdown would be enforced on October 20 .
