Lamka, February 13 2012:
The Churachandpur District Students Union (CDSU) today refuted that its former president and current Adviser K Doukhum is an overground worker of the KYKL, as reported in some sections of the media.
In a statement, the CDSU clarified that one of the two persons reportedly arrested by 38 Assam Rifles on 26 January at Sinzawl village based on false allegation of being an overground worker of the KYKL happens to be the ex-president of CDSU, who served the union as its president for a record tenure of two terms and who is also Adviser of the union till date.
As far as the knowledge of the CDSU is concerned, K Doukhum is in no way related to any outfits overtly or covertly and never subscribes to their ideologies.
Contrary to the charges, he is a prominent student leader and social worker who left no stone unturned to foster unity amongst the kindered tribes, added the statement.
The arrest of a man of his stature with no tainted records and background amounts to gross violation of human rights to suit vested interest of some narrow minded persons said the union.
It further maintained the act as 'diabolic ' and an attempt to defile its clean image.
