Imphal, December 10 2016:
Former Minister C Doungel has hailed the Congress Government for creating seven new districts in a single night thereby fulfilling long standing demands of a large number of people.
Notably, C Doungel has been preparing to contest the forthcoming State Assembly election in Saikul AC on BJP ticket.
He was speaking at a one day political conference held today at Luwangsangol village in Saikul AC.
Doungel said that people of Manipur were euphoric when the State Government announced the creation of seven districts.
There was no harm in declaring Kangpokpi as a full fledged district in place of Sadar Hills.
The creation of new districts would consolidate the State's integrity apart from harmonising inter-community relations, he added.
Now the people of Sadar Hills or Kangpokpi should focus on embarking on a path of development and progress for their long cherished demand has been fulfilled, Doungel said.
Out of 54 polling stations located within Saikul AC, BJP enjoys greater public support in 34 polling stations including Luwangsangol, he claimed while seeking people's mandate for BJP.
Ex-MLA M Bhorot said that he would like to appreciate Chief Minister O Ibobi for creating seven new districts in the interest of the State even though they do belong to different political parties.
He also appealed to the gathering to support C Doungel in the forthcoming election.
BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president N Maniton and ex-Minister Salam Ibohal also spoke at the meeting.
