Rescued girls at shelter home

Imphal, September 10 2017:
All the eight Manipuri girls from Churachandpur district who have been rescued from Yangon, Myanmar yesterday are being lodged at a shelter home there and their identities are being verified .
The girls were taken to the shelter home after the State Home Department communicated with an NGO named Impulse based at Shillong which in turn conveyed the information to one of their partner NGOs based at Yangon .
Officials of the Indian Embassy and Yangon Police have been jointly verifying the antecedents of the girls .
Authorities are also investigating how the girls reached Myanmar.
Due deportation process would be initiated after the investigation is over .
Meanwhile, the State Home Department has directed the Churachandpur DC and the SP to find out the details of the girls, conveyed a high ranking official of the department .
Of the eight girls who have been rescued from Yangon after they went missing two/three months back, four are said to be minors.
