Manisana's body laid to rest with State honours

Mortal remains of RK Manisana, the first Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court from Manipur, were laid to rest with full State honours at Keishampat today.
His last rites were performed with personnel of 1st Bn Manipur Rifles offering a 36-gun salute in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, PHED Minister I Hemochandra, High Court of Manipur Chief Justice Justice Laxmikanta Mohapatra, Justice N Kotiswar, Justice Kh Nobin, MLA L Nandakumar, Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga, DGP Shahid Ahmad, former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, Judges of different Courts of Manipur, members of legal fraternity, family members and well-wishers today.
Earlier, the gathering offered floral tributes to the mortal remains of Manisana.

Speaker condoles : Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Lokeshwar has condoled the demise of Manipur's first Chief Justice RK Manisana.
RK Manisana was an eminent citizen of the State who was very resourceful and quite helpful at times of critical situations.
After his retirement from Gauhati High Court as Chief Justice, Manisana was nominated as the Chairman of Assam Human Rights Commission.
Later, he was chosen as the chairman of a journalist wage board and submitted some landmark recommendations to the Government for the well being of the journalist fraternity.
He also volunteered and submitted his opinions/suggestions on the popular demand for enforcement of Inner Line Permit System in the State, the Speaker said in his condolence message.
The Speaker also conveyed solidarity to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace at the heavenly abode.
