Mother's Care Hospital notches up another first

For the first time in Manipur, a Developmental Paediatrics Division has been opened at Mother's Care Children Hospital in Imphal, today.
Developmental paediatricians evaluate, counsel, and provide treatment for children, adolescents, and their families with a wide range of developmental and behavioral difficulties.
The launch function held today at Sagolband Moirang Leirak was attended by RIMS Director Prof A Santa, Managing Director cum Chairman of Mother's Care Children Hospital & Research Centre Dr Kh Ratankumar, Head of Paediatrics of the hospital Prof L Braja Mohon and Developmental Paediatrician of Apollo Gleneagles Hospital Kolkata Dr Anjan Bhattacharya as presidium members.
At the event, Dr Kh Ratankumar said that the Mother's Care Hospital which was established in 2004 now has 100 beds and provides facilities such as Neonatal ICU, Paediatrics ICU (13) and paediatric surgery among others.
Saying that the hospital was opened to provide proper healthcare facilities to the children, Dr Ratankumar said that they decided to introduce heart treatment facilities at Mother's Care as many children died due to heart related ailments.
Apart from children, the hospital now provides heart treatment facilities to the adults too, he said and added that the hospital spends Rs 18 lakh as a charity on Manipur's Heart Scheme annually to treat the heart patients from poor families.
He further stated that they decided to open the Developmental Paediatrics Division in the hospital as many children with behavioural problems started admitting at Mother's Care.
Dr Anjan Bhattacharya gave a powerpoint presentation On "Developing of Developmental Paediatrics in our Country" .
