Imphal, April 07 2017:
The authority concerned should not try to hush up the crisis of question paper leakage of the ongoing Class XII exam being conducted by COHSEM by pulling up some students, asserted DESAM.
Speaking to media persons at their Sagolband Moirang Leirak Machin office this evening, DESAM secretary general N Edison Meitei said that DESAM was perturbed by the way police pulled up some students and humiliated them before media.
DESAM lodged a complaint to the COHSEM Secretary and other authority concerned about leakage/circulation of Physics question paper on April 5 before the exam started but there was no response from the side of COHSEM.
A similar complaint about circulation of 'question paper' was also lodged on the day when there was the Chemistry exam but COHSEM maintained that there was no leakage of question paper.
However, soon after the Physics exam started, it was found that the question paper circulated through social media was a copy of the true question paper, Edison said.
He went on to question why the Physics question paper was not replaced even after knowing that the question paper had leaked.
He further asked whether the exam was allowed to proceed deliberately under a conspiracy hatched by COHSEM authority together with some individuals, groups and schools.
COHSEM Chairman, Secretary and the Examination Controller should take full responsibility of the crisis and they should step down from their respective posts on moral ground.
Seeking attention of the Chief Minister and the Education Minister, Edison maintained that the crisis should be investigated thoroughly and all those found guilty should be awarded befitting punishment.
The matter cannot be hushed up by pulling up some students who uploaded the leaked question paper on social networking sites because the questions were set under COHSEM, not by the students.
Edison also appealed to all concerned not to project DESAM in wrong light just because its secretary organisation and coordination Elangbam Mushuk Meitei uploaded the question paper in Facebook.
Had COHSEM listened to DESAM's complaint about possible leakage of question paper in time, Mushuk would not have uploaded the question paper in time, he rued.
He said that DESAM would launch different forms of democratic agitation if the Government does not take up necessary action against guilty officers/staff of COHSEM within four days.
