Imphal, December 03 2017:
A team of doctor and paramedics of 31 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 10 Sector Assam Rifles and IGAR (South) conducted a medical camp at Aishi, a remote village of Kamjong district close to Indo-Myanmar Border on 03 Nov 2017 .
The aim was to provide free medical treatment and consultation to the remote villages of Aishi, Moltuk, Molvailup, Kongkhan and Phaimol where requisite medical facilities are not available along the border areas.
The patients were treated including screening for life style disease such as High BP, diabetes etc.
Apart from providing necessary medical assistance, basic know how on health education, hygiene and sanitation were also imparted.
An interaction session was also organised about HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other water borne disease.
The medical team while moving to Aishi yesterday, was targeted with five IEDs exposing the hollowness and vested interests of UGs denying basic health and development initiative to the villages.
The village Headmen of these villages have strongly condemned this act of cowardice of the UGs to deny basic development and health care to the locals.
The medical camp received overwhelming response from the local populace.
The villagers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for this humanitarian act.
