'Appropriate actions will be taken against violators of EPF Act'

Regional Provident Fund Commissioner (RPFC)-1, North East Region, Guwahati, Khundrakpam Rupeshor has cautioned that appropriate actions will be taken against the violators of the norms of Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) Act.
He made the above statement while speaking at the outreach program on 'EPF and MP Act, 1952' held today at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) examination hall organised by the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, Special State Office, Keishampat.
Addressing the grievances of the employees' union, the RPFC said that there are provisions in the EPF Act to award penalties to those who do not follow the rules and regulations of the EPF scheme.
Urging the employers to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations laid in the EPF Act, he stated that strict actions will be taken against those who violate such rules.
Informing that EPF Scheme is a social security scheme which can be joined by any eligible employee, Rupeshor said that EPFO will try to settle any dispute that arises between the employees who have joined this scheme and their employers after hearing the complaints of both the sides.
During the outreach program, the representatives of trade unions and employees' unions raised many issues in connection with the pitiable conditions of private sector employees and contractual staff of Government departments who lack social security with regards to their employment.
All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) representative, Ahongshangbam Premkumar urged the EPFO to look into the issues of private sector employees and contractual staff of Governmental departments such as PWD, PHED, MID, WRD, MSPDCL etc who have been barred from joining the EPF scheme though they are eligible.
Further he urged the authorities concerned of EPFO to take up appropriate measures to resolve the inconveniences faced by the employees under the EPF Scheme due to lack of manpower in the EPFO Office in Manipur and to.
simplify the lengthy process of acquiring the pension under this scheme.
