3-days training on Nursery Management of Fruit and Vegetable Crops launched

A three day residential training programme on Nursery Management of Fruit and Vegetable Crops has started today at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Lamphel.
JC Ramthanga, IAS, Principal Scientist (Hort & Soil Cons, Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Nodal Officer, KKA, Chandel with Dr Deepak Singh, Sr Scientist and Head, KVK Chandel and Honey Chara, District Officer, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Chandel attended the opening ceremony as dignitaries.
During the inaugural programme, Krishna Kumar, DC, Chandel expressed gratitude to Dr IM Singh, Officer Nodal Officer, Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan (KKA), Chandel & his team for carrying out the activities under KKA effectively.
JC Ramthanga, Principal Scientist (Horticulture & Soil Conservation), said that Chandel has huge scope for cultivation of fruits and vegetables.
He expressed his desire of making Chandel as the first organic district of the State.
Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Nodal Officer, KKA, Chandel, encouraged the KVK and Line Departments and urged the farmers to utilize the expertise of the resource persons and implement what they learn in their respective villages.
55 farmers from Khudei Khunou, Japhou, Kapaam, Chumbang, Panchai, Monsang Pantha, Sajik Tampak, Aihang, Chandel Christian, New Somtal, Lambung, Mantak, Lamphoupasna, Chakpikarong, Panchai, Tampi, Moltuk and Mantripantha villages and staff of KVK Chandel and District Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Chandel are participating in the residential training programme.
Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan is a part of the Prime Minister's approach to doubling farmers' income by 2022.Chandel is one of the aspirational districts selected for implementation of Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan which started from June 1 and will end on July 31.It is being taken up in 25 villages in Chandel district which have relatively large population.
Three off-campus training programmes have been carried out in a total of six villages- Chandel Christian, Chakpikarong, Sajik Tampak, New Somtal, Japhou and Lambung.
Under this flagship programme, a total of 234 soil health cards have been distributed so far out of 'seed mini kits of rice', pulses and oilseeds have been distributed to 325 beneficiaries of Chakpikarong, Chandel Christian and Lambung villages and Sajik Tampak and Japhou villages.
60 numbers of small agricultural implements (cono weeder & hand cutter) were distributed to 10 beneficiaries each at all the villages.
2500 number of saplings (lemon and orange) were distributed (500 saplings at each village and 5 saplings to each beneficiary).
A total of 547 numbers of cattle have been vaccinated till now.
4 numbers of Artificial insemination were carried out in Chandonpokpi, Hnatham, Heibunglok and Purum Chumbang villages.
Three days residential training programmes on "Mushroom Cultivation" and "Planting Technology of fruit plants" have already been conducted at ICAR.
Manipur Centre in which over 70 trainee fanners attended.
There will be further residential training programmes on "Bee keeping", "Mushroom Cultivation", "Nutritional, Gardening" and "Seed & Grain Production in Kharif� under ATMA Chandel.
