AR provides assistance to blast victim

Assam Rifles and the villagers of Kwatha of Chandel district have condemned the blast that occurred at the village on September 28 .
The blast took the life of a person injuring two others.
The villagers took out a peaceful protest against the blast on NH 102 on September 29 and also called a 24-hour bandh along the highway on October 1, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
Saying that Kwatha is a Meitei village, the press release added that the villagers have always been mistreated by all UG groups operating from Myanmar.
The villagers are always under a sense of insecurity in their own village, it said and added that the villagers have always been used as shields by the UG cadres who never gave a second thought before killing and injuring the innocent villagers, and also have been claiming the incident with conviction, considering it as an act of valour.
The UG cadres have shown total disregard to reverend temple of Raja-Rani of Manipur at Kwatha, the PRO press release alleged.
It added that all such 'barbaric acts' must be condemned by one and all.
All HR agencies must take a note of such incident and brace up to raise campaign against militants' brutality.
The press release added that the cremation of the victim of the blast, Ningthoujam Sanajaoba Singh was carried out with full rituals in the village on September 30 .
During the rituals, the Assam Rifles provided security to the villagers, the press release said and adding that the Post Commander of the Kwatha AR Post attended the cremation rituals and monetary assistance was provided to the relatives of the deceased to meet urgent expenses, besides grocery and other items to meet their immediate short term daily needs.
On the other side, Angom Kaboklei, who was injured seriously in the explosion and who was being treated at Shija Hospitals was visited by Brig Upendra Dwivedi, Commander, 26 Sector and Col S K Goswami, Commandant 24 Assam Rifles and provided monetary help, the press release said.
It added that the officers assured the woman and her relatives that they would always find Assam Rifles standing by them in all adverse circumstances.
Keeping up the motto of 'Friends of Manipur' Assam Rifles have adopted the Primary Health Centre of Kwatha village and conducted numerous medical camps besides providing 24x7 standby medical aid to villagers, the press release said.
It added that six solar lights have been installed in Kwatha village and more are being planned to provide lighting to this remote and underdeveloped village.
Plans are being implemented to provide furniture and stationary to Kwatha school besides urging the State Govt for upgradation of the school with modern amenities, said the press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR(S) .
