Ambulance attack: Parties arrive at understanding

In a testament to the power of peaceful dialogue and a shared meal, Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) have come to an understanding with the public of Kakching, represented by MLA M Rameshwar, regarding the unfortunate incident wherein two ambulance vehicles from Medical Department Chandel and their drivers were attacked by a group at Kakching Lamkhai on May 28.The Kakching MLA along with Peace Committee Kakching shared a meal with CNPO president and a member at Konsang Community Hall located at Khangsim and sorted out the misundertanding as per Naga customary laws.
The two drivers who sustained injuries reportedly belong to Maring and Anal tribes.

Speaking in this connection, MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar said that the incident of May 28 was the result of a misunderstanding.
He stated that with the help of CNPO president and other Nagag associations from Chandel, the oncerned parties have arrived at an agreement in the spirit of peaceful existence and harmonious living after sharing a meal today.
The MLA called upon the people to preserve the bonds of brotherhood between the Meitei and Naga community and ensure that such unfortunate incidents do not occur in the future.
David Boyes, president, CNPO lauded the Kakching MLA for not only taking full responsibility for the incident but also following Naga customary laws to arrive at an agreement.
Saying that both parties have arrived at an understanding, the CNPO president hoped against a repetition of such incidents and called for peaceful and harmonious co-existence of the Meitei and Naga communities.
