Imphal, July 31 2015 :
Reacting to the news report that he and two other MLAs have resigned from the committee constituted to draft a new Bill in place of the rejected MRVTMW Bill 2015, MLA Dr Ng Bijoy has dismissed the same report as false.
MLA M Biren is also believed to have dismissed the report.
The protest movement seen in the State since the past couple of weeks grew more and more intense as the State Government failed to take up any action against the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood.
Had the Government taken up necessary action in time, the people's movement might have subsided, Dr Bijoy told a group of women who came to submit a memorandum at the his residence today.
The main points of the memorandum were in the form of demands and they included protection of indigenous people by enacting an effective legislation and repatriation of non-local people.
Speaking to the visiting women activists, Dr Bijoy stated that clauses permissible under the Constitution of India would be incorporated into the Bill and those which appear to be extra-Constitutional would be re-considered.
Informing that the drafting committee has been awaiting drafts/suggestions of JCILPS, the All Manipur Bar Association and High Court Bar Council, Dr Bijoy claimed that all preparations have been completed to table a Bill in the Assembly before the deadline fixed by JCILPS which is August 15 .
Meanwhile, protest demonstrations were staged today between Khurai Lamlong and Khabeisoi on the popular demand of enacting a law for monitoring influx into the State under the aegis of the Coordinating Body of ILPS Khurai, Imphal East.
A protest was also staged at Keishamthong under the aegis of the All Manipur Sound Service Association (AMSSA) .
Speaking to media by the sideline of the protest demonstration, AMSSA president Ph Sashikanta demanded implementation of ILPS or similar law in Manipur at the earliest, punishment of all police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood, release of all arrested students and re-opening of all educational institutions.
Members of the All Manipur Angling Association also staged a protest demonstration at Singjamei bridge on the same issue.
