One Pukhrambam Bilashini, who on August 3, 2004, deposed before the ongoing Manorama Death Inquiry Commission that she saw a woman being pulled down from an army vehicle and later heard gun shots in the morning of July 11, was crossed examined by the counsel of behalf of 17 Assam Rifles today.
On being questioned, Bilashini (50) of Keirao Mayai Leikai testified that she had come to give her testimonies before the Commission on August 3 voluntarily and that she deposed whatever was known to her.
When asked if she could tell the approximate distance between her house and her paddy field which is located at Thongaibam Kshetri Loukol, Bilashini said that she could not tell the distance, however, it takes about half an hour to reach her paddy field from her residence on foot.
On July 11, she had gone to her paddy field on foot, she said, adding that everyday she go to her paddy field on foot.
It took about half an hour to reach her paddy field on that day, she answered.
On further questioning, he replied that on that day, she had started from her residence at 3.30 am and reached her paddy field at around 4 am, and this had been her usual routine.
When asked about her earlier deposition in which she said that she always carried a pocket radio and on playing that she could tell the time, the lady witness replied in affirmative.
However, she said, she did not know at what time she came to the Commission today as she did not wear a watch.
Other than cross-examining one witness from Yairipok Maring village, the whole proceedings of the State sponsored panel headed by retired Judge C Upendra, is on the verge of completion.
