CPI, Manipur State Council has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister seeking his intervention is resolving the Sadar Hills issue which has resulted in a serious humanitarian crisis due to bandh and blockades on National Highways since the past one month.
Speaking to media persons at Irabot Bhavan here this afternoon, CPI Manipur State Council secretary Dr M Nara said that detailed reports about the prevailing situation was sent to the party's general secretary AB Bardhan following which he (Bardhan) forwarded the memorandum to the Prime Minister on August 27 .
The memorandum highlighted that the issue at hand has the potential to ignite communal clash in the State.
Scarcity of essential commodities including life saving drugs due to the prolonged bandh and blockades was also conveyed the Prime Minister, Dr Nara said.
Some hospitals have even suspended surgical operations due to unavailability of life saving drugs.
Highlighting all these points, CPI Manipur State Council urged the Prime Minister to intervene immediately in resolving the crisis in an amicable manner, Dr Nara said.
