Some PSs to be manned by women: CEO

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) PK Singh has announced that there will be women only polling stations which will be monitored by women polling personnel as well, in the coming Parliamentary election for both Outer and Inner Parliamentary Constituencies.
Speaking to The Sangai Express on preparations for the coming election, the CEO confided that the number of such women only polling station is yet to be determined.
He informed that preparations are underway for using web streaming facilities in over 1000 polling stations for the coming Lok Sabha election and added that CCTV cameras will be installed at all 2861 polling stations so as to minutely monitor the election process.
Stating that special Braille elector identity cards are being printed for visually impaired electors, the CEO mentioned that a model polling station will be established at each of the 60 A/Cs.
16 DCs and 2 ADMs have started getting training in batches for their responsibility as District Election Officer and Returning Officers as per the Election Commission certification programme.
The IT teams of the CEO office are also being prepared for getting necessary training for cVIGIL, Voter Helpline, EMS, Webcasting and Poll Day Management.
Details regarding District Election Planning Security and the number of vehicles to be used for the election will be compiled by January 31, the CEO said adding that the election plan is targeted for completion before February 15.It may be mentioned that just like in 2014, around 79 companies of paramilitary forces might be utilized for the coming Lok Sabha election, apart from State police as well.
EVMs and VVPATs are also planned for use at the 2861 polling stations.
