Plebiscite call evokes positive response

A public discussion session on 'Manipur-India conflict and its resolution through public participation' was organised jointly by UMO, Moirang Khunou Branch and Hougrampat Meira Paibi Apunba Lup at Hougrampat Mandap, Moirang Khunou today.
Presided over by president of Moirang Khunou Meira Paibi Lup Hemam Angoubi, the discussion session resolved that people of Manipur should be allowed to participate in the resolution of Manipur-India conflict and plebiscite should be conducted to ensure participation of the people.
Furthermore, it was resolved that the proceeding of the discussion session and the resolutions adopted would be submitted to United Nations Organisation and other International human rights bodies for support and co-operation towards resolving the conflict.
Among those who participated in the discussion session as resource, social worker Abujam Ibobi observed that there can be peace and development only when the people are allowed to live without any fear or intimidation.
Pointing out that the number of armed outfits in Manipur are more than enough, he also called upon all armed groups come and work together as one.
Vice president of NIPCO Sunil Karam and advocate Angomcha Araba were participated and spoke in the discussion session as resource persons highlighting the root causes of the conflict and its urgent need for resolution.
Social workers L Tondon, L Ningthemjao and retired Government employee Seram Momon were also present at the occasion.
