Shabu Hong Rien � 2016, a pre-harvest festival of the Chothe tribe was celebrated today at Purum Khullen (Chothe Hupi) community hall, our correspondent reports.
The opening event was graced by Chandel Naga Peoples Organisation (CNPO), president Ws Kanral Anal as chief guest and Autonomous District Council (ADC), Chandel, Member (9-Purum DCC) Hopeson Thaokung and Chothe Lim Abom Manipur, CLAM (Chothe Tribe Union Manipur) president Malsawm Thaokungna guests of honour.

Purum Khullen village chief Kh Anthony Chothe, assistant chief Mk Wanreng Chothe, secretary Ansai Thaokung, selungba Mk Neichong Church, elder Y Jati Chothe, CNPO information and publicity secretary John, Chothe Chiefs Association chairman M Thanijao Chothe also attended the festival.
CNPO, president Ws Kanral Anal said the Chothe tribe are a hard working group of people with a rich culture.
Naga inhabited villages of Manipur will be largely benefited once a final solution to the Naga peace talks is worked out.
CLAM president Malsawm said Shabu Hong Rien is one of the seven important festivals of the Chothe tribe.
The festival dates back to the time before Chothe tribes embraced Christianity.
Hopeson Chothe also spoke on the occasion.
