Imphal, April 27 2016:
Close on the heels of submitting a memorandum to the CM conveying their disapproval and urging the CM to suspend the functioning of Kangvai SDO/BDO office which was 'clandestinely' and 'covertly' opened on March 28, two Members of Churachandpur ADC today affirmed that they 'do not and will never accept' the opening and functioning of Kangvai SDO office.
Seilenmang Khongsai, Member, Khousabung-DCC and Demmang Haokip, Member, Leimata DCC, ADC, Churachandpur the two grassroots level representatives within 'Kangvai' subdivision, issued a joint statement today saying they 'do not and will never accept the Govt's undemocratic and arbitrary action' .
The two Members also pledged not to give any cognizance or recognition to the new subdivision office which was opened in a 'coercive and covert' manner.
The two MDCs had submitted a memorandum each to the Chief Minister in this regard last week.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Khousabung Sub-Division Demand Committee (KSDDC) had also rejected the Kangvai SDO office and announced its boycott of Henglep AC MLA over the matter.
The two ADC Members said that the voice of the people and their legitimate aspiration who want naming of the SDO as Khousabung subdivision with its headquarters at Khousabung, was arbitrarily snubbed.
The two Members also said that the Govt opened the temporary subdivision office at Kangvai on March 28, without even a slight regard to the democratic principle and totally ignoring the two grassroots representatives of the area.
It is also claimed that Khousabung is the preferred choice of more than 100 village chiefs out of the 125 villages covered by the new subdivision for the location of the new SDO/BDO office.
The two ADC Members then implored the Govt to review and repeal the arbitrary decision adopted by the State Government vis-a-vis Kangvai sub-division so that the legitimate aspirations of the people can see a new dawn and the new public office serves its intended purposes.
