Imphal, September 26 2016:
With a call to explore alternative methods of pressing for public demands and voicing public grievances rather than resorting to bandhs, blockades, public curfews etc, the Progressive Manipur has lined up a silent rally on October 2 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Progressive Manipur president Lairenjam Niranjan said that the silent rally is aimed at highlighting the misery caused by bandhs, blockades and public curfews.
The silent rally which would be flagged off from THAU Ground would be preceded by a public discussion session.
However, Progressive Manipur is not an organisation which indiscriminately opposes bandhs, blockades and public curfews.
"Progressive Manipur has been only trying to convey that we need to explore other methods of voicing public grievances rather than respiting to bandhs, blockades and public curfews in view of the serious disturbances they cause to students who are the future pillars of the society", Niranjan said.
