Tangkhul bodies serve ultimatum

Imphal, April 26 2016:
Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI), Tangkhul People's Organisation Imphal (TPO) and Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long (ITSL) have served a 10-day ultimatum and pressed the State Government to act on their demands regarding the abduction and murder of PA Chinaoshang of Pharung Shimtang village immediately.
The bodies submitted a joint memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi in this connection today.
The demands of the Tangkhul bodies include immediate arrest of the culprits, immediate granting of an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family of the deceased, immediate arrangement of means of livelihood for the next of kin of Chinaoshang in the form of employment and taking up preventive measures to check such unwanted incidents.
The memorandum said that these demands must be fulfilled within 10 days failing which an intense agitation would be launched and the matter would be put up before the National Human Rights Commission.
Truck driver PA Chinaoshang (38) was abducted from a makeshift camp located at the quarry site of Shingpal Kuki village on March 3 this year.
His highly decomposed body was found buried at a place located at a distance of around 1 km from Lhangnom village in Senapati district on April 18 .
