AR-UGs clash along Indo-Myanmar border

Imphal, April 26 2011:
Assam Rifle troops and suspected PLA cadres were engaged in an intense and heavy gun fight near Skipe village along Indo-Myanmar border in Ukhrul district last evening.
Suspected PLA cadres ambushed troops of 12 AR who were patrolling near Skipe village which is located at a distance of about 6 hours walk from Nambashi at around 4.30 pm yesterday, informed a source.
The two sides exchanged fire for several minutes though there was no casualty on the side of Assam Rifles.
However, it is reported that there might be some casualties on the side of the UG cadres.
When The Sangai Express contacted the PRO of Assam Rifles, Major Kamat in the evening, the officer admitted that they have received of the gun fight which occured last night.
There is no casualty on the side of the troops, he said and added that search operations have been launched.
Since communication with Ukhrul is poor, the details are still being awaited.
